The book “Spectral Characteristics of Solar Radiation: Applications in Photovoltaic Conversion” will soon be available, providing an in-depth look at the multiple dimensions of the solar radiation spectrum, its interaction with solar cells, and its impact on photovoltaic applications.
In this context, Chapter 10, titled “Spectral Factors for PV Technologies,” has been co-written by members from Advances in Photovoltaic Technology (AdPVTech) (University of Jaén): Elmehdi Mouhib, Florencia Almonacid, and Eduardo F. Fernández, along with Pedro Manuel Rodrigo Cruz, a researcher from the Faculty of Engineering at the University Panamericana (Aguascalientes, Mexico).
This chapter delves into various spectral indices designed to evaluate the impact of the solar spectrum on photovoltaic technologies. Three main categories are proposed:
🔷 PV-device-independent indexes
🔷 PV-device-dependent indexes
🔷 Optical degradation indexes
Each of these indexes provides key tools to optimize the performance and durability of different photovoltaic materials against spectral variations.
